Main uses
Fix the steel rails and wooden sleepers
By driving the hook-head track nails into the wooden sleepers and using the hook-head part to hold the bottom of the rail (rail bottom), it prevents the rail from moving laterally or crawling longitudinally, ensuring the stability of the gauge.
2. Resist dynamic loads
The vibration and impact force generated during the operation of the train can be transmitted to the wooden sleepers through the track studs and dispersed onto the track beds, enhancing the overall stability of the track structure.
3. Insulation effect
The wooden pillow itself has insulating properties. When used in combination with track studs, it can reduce the current leakage of the track circuit and is suitable for non-electrified sections or early signal systems.

 

Usage scenarios
1. Wooden pillow track section
It is specifically designed for traditional wooden sleeper lines and is particularly common in stations, dedicated lines, low-speed branch lines or historically preserved lines.
2. Small-radius curve sections
In curved sections, the rails are subjected to greater lateral force. Hook-head track nails can effectively prevent the gauge from widening (in combination with other anti-climbing equipment).
3. Temporary maintenance or transition sections
Due to its convenient construction and low cost, it is often used for temporary repair or transitional track laying.
4. Specific environment
Such as forest railways, damp environments (wooden pillows used after anti-corrosion treatment), or sections with high requirements for electrical insulation.

 

Structural characteristics
Hook head design: The nail head is equipped with a hook. After being driven in, it tightly adheres to the bottom edge of the rail, providing lateral restraint.
The cross-section of the nail body: Usually square or rhombic, it increases the clamping force with the wooden pillow and prevents loosening.
Material: Mostly high-carbon steel, which is heat-treated to enhance hardness and corrosion resistance.
