The main uses of fishplates
1. Mechanically connect the rails
In non-welded tracks (such as ordinary lines, turnouts, Bridges, etc.), fishplates are used to connect the ends of two rails to ensure the continuity of the tracks.
The rail joints are fastened with bolts to maintain a certain strength and stability, preventing the rails from misalignment or separation.
2. Transfer the load of the wheels
When the train passes through the rail joint, the fishplate helps to disperse the impact force of the wheels, reducing the wear and deformation at the end of the rail.
3. Allow the rail to expand and contract due to temperature changes
In the common joint track, the fishplate allows the rail to have a certain expansion and contraction space when the temperature changes, preventing the track from deforming due to thermal expansion and contraction.
